Privacy policy ยท last updated 24 July 2026

How we handle your information.

Plain language, no surprises. This is what we collect, why, and the rights you have over it.

InFocus Media Group Pty Ltd (ABN 83 647 238 819) (InFocus, we, us, our) is a Sydney video production and marketing business. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, and how you can access it, correct it or complain.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and we apply the APPs to everything we do regardless of whether an exemption might otherwise be available to a business of our size. Where our production work in New South Wales involves recording people, we also comply with applicable NSW law, including the Surveillance Devices Act 2007 (NSW).

The kinds of personal information we collect

We collect only what we need to run our business and deliver our work. Depending on how you deal with us, that may include your name, email address, phone number, job title and organisation, the content of your enquiries and correspondence with us, project and billing details, and, where you take part in a production, your image, voice and footage of you along with any release or consent records. We do not collect sensitive information (such as health information, racial or ethnic origin or political opinions) unless you provide it to us and consent, or the law otherwise permits it.

How we collect personal information

We collect personal information directly from you: when you email or phone us, when you use the contact form on this website, when we work together on a project, or when your organisation provides it to us in the course of an engagement.

When you submit the contact form, the details you enter (your name, email address, phone number, the service you are interested in and your message) are sent to our website and stored in a private, access-controlled database that we own and control, hosted with Cloudflare. We use those details to respond to your enquiry and manage it as a business lead. A notification email containing your enquiry is also delivered to us through Resend, our email delivery provider. The form is protected against spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, which verifies you are a person without tracking you across websites. We record the country your submission came from, but not your IP address.

Where we film or photograph people for client projects, we collect that material with the knowledge and consent of participants, normally recorded through a talent or appearance release.

Website data, cookies and third-party services

This website does not set its own tracking cookies and does not currently run any analytics service. We do not build profiles of visitors.

Like most websites, some third-party services are involved in delivering the pages, and they receive standard technical information from your browser (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) when content loads:

  • Cloudflare, which hosts and serves the site, stores contact form submissions in our database, and runs the Turnstile anti-spam check on the contact form
  • Resend, which delivers the email notification we receive when you submit the contact form
  • Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces
  • Vimeo and YouTube, which supply embedded video players on portfolio and case study pages

These providers are based in the United States and handle that technical data under their own privacy policies. Embedded video players may set their own cookies when you interact with them.

Why we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information

We collect, hold and use personal information to respond to your enquiries, scope and deliver our services, manage client relationships and projects, produce the video and marketing work we are engaged for, invoice and keep business records, showcase completed work where we have the necessary consents, and meet our legal obligations.

Direct marketing

We do not send bulk marketing. If we ever contact you about our services, it will be because you asked us to, you are an existing client or contact who would reasonably expect it, or you have consented. You can opt out at any time by telling us, and we will act on that promptly. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

Who we disclose personal information to

We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only as needed to run the business: to service providers we use (such as hosting, email, file storage, accounting and production software), to freelance crew and subcontractors working on your project under confidentiality obligations, to our professional advisers, and where the law requires or permits it.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use store data on servers located overseas, most commonly in the United States. This includes the website services named above and the cloud software we use to run the business. Where we disclose personal information to overseas providers, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.

Dealing with us anonymously

You are welcome to browse this website without identifying yourself. Where it is lawful and practicable, you can also deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym, for example when making a general enquiry. We will need your real details to enter a contract or deliver services to you.

How we hold and protect personal information

We hold personal information in secured cloud services and on access-controlled devices. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, including access controls, unique credentials and keeping software current. When personal information is no longer needed for any purpose for which it may be used or disclosed, and we are not required by law to retain it, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.

Data breaches

We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in Part IIIC of the Privacy Act. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual, we will notify the affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required.

Automated decision making

We do not use computer programs to make decisions that could significantly affect your rights or interests. If that ever changes, we will update this policy to explain what information is used and what kinds of decisions are involved, in line with the requirements of the Privacy Act commencing 10 December 2026.

Access and correction

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. Email us at [email protected] or write to the address below. We do not charge for making a request. We will respond within 30 days, verify your identity before releasing anything, and if we refuse access or correction for a reason the law allows, we will tell you why in writing and how to complain about that decision.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached the APPs or mishandled your personal information, please put your complaint in writing to [email protected]. We take complaints seriously: we will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and respond to you within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the OAIC:
